Rubio: Trump military policy for Iran is ‘head for an eye’

Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned early Thursday that President Trump is prepared to direct an outsized military response to Iranian aggression as the two sides continue to exchange fire nearly five months into the conflict.

Rubio responded to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s statement that Tehran’s policy is an “eye for an eye” in comments to reporters at a summit held by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Manila, Philippines. 

“The president’s policy is a head for an eye,” he said. “I mean honestly, that’s what it’s going to be. I mean, they will pay a very heavy price for the things they’re doing.”

Araghchi issued the warning Wednesday in a post on the social platform X.
