US official insists deal with Iran ’75 percent there’

The deal with Iran is not complete but is three-quarters of the way there, and a signing should take place within the next few days, according to a senior Trump administration official.

The official confirmed Friday to NewsNation that there is no deal yet but estimates it is 75 percent of the way there.

“While this is tentative, we feel confident that we will be signing this in the next few days,” they said.

The U.S. agreement with Iran includes provisions to dismantle Tehran’s nuclear program, along with nuclear material being destroyed and removed, the administration official said.

It also includes the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, no Iran funding of terrorist groups and none of Iran’s money being released until it performs.

The official described it as a “performance-based deal.”

It’s not entirely clear how close the two sides are, as Iran has given different signals.
