Trump, Lula avoid press at high stakes White House meeting

President Trump and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva avoided going before the press at their high stakes bilateral meeting at the White House on Thursday in what was supposed to be an on-camera appearance before U.S. and Brazilian journalists.

The only readout of the meeting so far came in the form of a Truth Social post by Trump who indicated it went “very well.”

The meeting was originally open to the White House press pool and members of the Brazilian press. However, the Brazilian press corps left the White House nearly two hours after Lula arrived for his meeting with Trump and was only spotted by the foreign press pool arriving.
