Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton (R) filed for divorce from state Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) on Thursday, according to court documents.

The development comes as Ken Paxton is challenging incumbent Texas Sen. John Cornyn (R) for his seat in a closely watched primary.

Paxton said in a post on the social platform X that he and his wife were starting a new chapter.
