Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears’ (R) gubernatorial campaign rolled out an ad tying her Democratic opponent, Abigail Spanberger, to the fallout over leaked text messages from Democratic attorney general nominee Jay Jones.

The ad opens with a series of clips from news anchors about Jones’ unearthed 2022 text messages from Jones calling for the then-statehouse speaker to get “two bullets to the head.”

A series of images of Spanberger and Jones together on the campaign trail is shown as the former congresswoman praises the Democratic attorney general nominee prior to news of the existence of the correspondence.

The ad comes as the revelation over the text messages rocks Virginia’s off-year elections. The messages were first reported by the National Review, and the texts were later published by the Republican Attorneys General........
