RON HART: Economic And Gunboat Diplomacy Might Change The World
Trump strategically bombs Iran’s nuclear facilities, bringing some stability to the region — maybe democracy. Dems rail against it. Then Trump sends Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to Minneapolis to arrest illegal alien murderers, rapists and child molesters. Dems stand against it. Bored lesbians organize to harass ICE. Then Trump snatches up evil Venezuelan dictator Maduro without a casualty. Dems reflexively protest to support Maduro.
We are in odd times. It was easier and safer for our special forces to find Maduro in his bedroom in Caracas than for a reporter to find a kid at a Somali daycare in Minneapolis.
Half the country cheers everything Trump does and the other half hates it. We currently live in a scenario where half the country thinks the other half has lost their minds. (RELATED: Defending A Dictator: Inside The Legal Team Representing Nicolás Maduro)
When all these clandestine acts happen, Trump does not brief Democrats because he knows they will leak. For a party fond of dykes, it leaks a lot. Trump does not brief Adam Schiff, AOC, or Jasmine Crocket, continuing their streak of no intelligence.
Iran is moving toward something the world has wanted since the 70’s: ousting the theocracy that our Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) created and sowing the seeds of freedom. It might work. I hear Iran’s Supreme Leader might hit the portal. Maduro regrets not doing so. Trump’s foreign policy can be best described as FAFO. Word spreads.
Iran faces growing internal pressure for change due to economic hardship (inflation, currency crisis, oil) and public dissatisfaction. Surveys show strong desire for new systems. Until now, the regime’s powerful security apparatus has held the population under militaristic thrall and some fake, self-righteous theocracy. By Trump and Israel knocking out their defense systems, it exposed a paper tiger and emboldened demands for change.
Trump’s policy of gunboat diplomacy through Marco Rubio’s State Department, combined with strategic hit and run attacks, is working in our best interests. We play to our strengths: overwhelming force and power (shock and awe), not occupying. Bush and Cheney would have invaded and occupied the Netherlands had someone told them Vincent van Gogh painted with so much oil.
We like invading for oil, yet we have had our longest romance with Israel. The good Lord gave all the countries in that region oil — except Israel. This assures that America would always love Israel for its personality, not money.
To put it in romantic terms, Bush fell in love and wanted to move into the countries he invaded, creating a toxic relationship that would never have worked. Trump is more of a “hit it and quit it” type.
Iran’s ability to suppress dissent with force remains a significant deterrent. The Iranian regime has recently killed over 2,500 peaceful protestors. It makes the Renee Good thing seem trivial. Fearing a chaotic vacuum or more dangerous forces emerging, Trump does not stay and pick leaders. (RELATED: Iranians Burn Down Mosques)
The good news is that, since we bombed their nuclear ambitions, they no longer chant “Death to America.” Now their chant is more like “A short annoying flu to America but a quick recovery.”
Kids today do not remember the Iranian/American hostage crisis. Kids today think Iran is a health app on their smart phone. But as a short history lesson, in the 70’s Iran hated the US. because our CIA interfered in their country and because Jimmy Carter was weak. Also, and it is hard to overstate this, they hated our disco.
From Obama to Biden, soft presidents whose diplomatic corps gets spun around negotiating with the likes of Iran, fail. Dems can only armchair quarterback and quibble about procedure when Trump takes out nefarious dictators. Dems remain weak, except for Hillary Clinton. She might have killed Maduro, but she would have made it look like an accident.
The USA went from one failed CIA-encouraged-around-the-world to another failed-intervention disaster. Why we as a nation have not put the brakes on them I do not know.
Maybe with the Trump policy of smacking in the wallet and in the face with military of rouge countries, then sitting off their shores to see if they want more, is a good way to handle things.
The strength of America is in our skilled armed forces and superior equipment. This hit-and-run policy that does not involve boots on the ground resulting in endless wars is our best way to go.
It is the showman in Trump. Understand, under Trumpian policies it is never a war. It is just the start of negotiations with pyrotechnic special effects.
