Doctors Quietly Admit They Cheat All The Time
‘The Science’ is a product of the scientists. And plenty of the scientists appear to be liars.
Medical image fraud “appears to be relatively prevalent,” claims a new study in the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
Researchers asked 284 respondents, most of whom were “mid-career European male MDs with over ten years of research experience,” if they’d participated in medical image falsification in the past five years. Common forms of falsification “included cherry-picking, unauthorized image reuse, and misleading enhancements.” (RELATED: Harvard Med School Professor And Neuroscientist Accused Of Major Research Misconduct)
Though 13.7% of respondents admitted to committing some form of image falsification in the past five years, 38.7% reported witnessing colleagues do so in the past five years.
