What will Swindon Town's priorities be in transfer window?
Having begun their summer business by announcing the retained list, Swindon Town will have to begin working on transfer priorities.
Normally, my opinion pieces would be written under the banner of “Looking Back-lam”, but this summer we will be looking ahead at how I would look to approach another pivotal transfer window for Swindon. Unfortunately, “Looking Forward-lam” doesn’t work as a pun, and I couldn’t hand this assignment off to our intern Luke Ingforward, so we will all have to put up with “Building The Town.”
After the retained list, the next priority has to be identifying the holes which still exist in the squad after the departure of 13 players from last season.
Out of players already signed on for next year, Swindon begin this summer with a squad of 18 and have contract offers out for another five, so this is a crowded group to begin with when considering that Ian Holloway prefers to work with a group of 24. Going group by group, let’s see what holes still remain.
Note: Asterisks (*) will be used to denote players who have not yet signed contract offers.
