The local authority's highways team and a specialist contractor have been carrying out repainting work across the borough to make sure roads are safe for motorists and easier to navigate.

The team has recently been in Stratton, carrying out work on Bridge End Road and Swindon Road.

An SBC spokesperson said: "In total, £73,000 will be spent on refreshing road markings this financial year, as part of an overall investment of more than £5m into local roads.”

Here’s what you had to say on the matter.

James Bustin said: “I would say all the potholes is more important.”

Wayland Smith said: “I would expect a bit of gold leaf for that price.”

Patricia Lees said: “Maybe offenders sentenced to Community Service could be made to provide the necessary labouring, it should be done under the supervision of qualified staff.

“Yes it may be described as captive labour but maybe they'd learn something useful and pay back to the community for crimes committed.”

Jonathon Bowdler said: “Try fixing the roads!”

Kim Fletcher said: “About time.”
