Swindon street preacher's court case sparks debate
A court case involving a street preacher banned from the town centre, who denies breaching that ban, sparked a discussion about preaching in public.
The Adver reported on recent court proceedings related to a street preacher who had allegedly failed to comply with a section 35 direction of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and, without reasonable excuse, failed to leave a local park
Here’s what you had to say on the matter.
Malcolm Woods said: “I've seen the preachers in Swindon, creating a bad atmosphere and a negative vibe.
“What they need to realise is that they are talking to real people, shouting hate messages in the name of the Bible does not create wellbeing in people. If love is the first commandment, then start caring about people first.
“I have talked to traders in the town centre and the shoppers are being made to feel unwelcome during their shopping.”
