Swindon reacts to Claire's shops filing for bankruptcy
News of the Claire’s retail chain filing for bankruptcy again received mixed reactions from Swindonians.
The brand had already been in discussions "with other partners" about its future but there will be no immediate impact on stores.
The US-based firm first filed for bankruptcy in 2018. It currently operates 2,750 stores in 17 countries throughout North America and Europe.
It has about 280 stores in the UK, down from 370 in 2018, including three stores in Swindon - one in the Brunel Centre, one on Kemble Drive and another at the West Swindon Shopping Centre.
Here’s what you had to say on the matter.
Tracey Jones said: “Will probably get replaced with barber shop or nail technician.”
Gavin Williams said: “That's what happens under a left wing!”
Kerry Hooper replied: “Pathetic. 14 years of the Tories with little to no economic growth and you decide one year of Labour is what took down a company which has been in financials for years
“Get a grip, at least understand how the economy works before sounding off uneducated bile.”
Mark Newman replied:........
