Residents fume as Thames Water lifts hosepipe ban

Thames Water finally lifting a hosepipe ban that lasted for four months sparked a lot of discussion.

The utility company removed the Temporary Use Ban in parts of Swindon, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, and Berkshire. at 7am on November 27.

After four months of restrictions, the ban’s end has sparked a wave of comments from local residents—many mixing relief, frustration, and humour.

It was aimed at conserving water following a dry spring and summer.

Several months of above-average rainfall have contributed to the decision to lift the ban.

Some residents, though, question the timing.

Cindy Moss quipped: "They do know we’re in November right?"

Richard Heasman added: "Just when you don't need one anymore!"

Others highlighted the irony of the restrictions.

Jon Braid commented: "And here’s me thinking we’re in flood season," while Tim Lewis asked, "Hosepipe ban until late November? Didn’t we have flooding a few weeks ago? Surely that would’ve been enough to lift the ban?"
