News of Swindon’s council renewing its enthusiasm for working with the private sector to regenerate the town centre sparked a discussion about the area’s future.

Leading local figures in business congregated at the newly refurbished Tri-Centre building 1 Newbridge Square to hear from those tasked with delivering Swindon Borough Council's Heart of Swindon plan on Wednesday.

The project is in line with the objectives of the Heart of Swindon plan to persuade investment into residential and retail developments and encourage people to visit, work and live in the town centre.

The Heart of Swindon plan is seeking to create 5,000 more town centre homes to catalyse further growth, including by encouraging bids from developers to remodel the David Murray John Tower with the intention of housing up to 8,000 people.
