Greyhound racing protest in Swindon sparks banning debate
Protesters in Swindon who called for a ban on greyhound racing after outrage over the number of dogs killed in the sport have sparked a lot of debate.
The demonstration, which took place on Saturday afternoon, August 23, saw 11 locals gather outside Swindon Greyhound Stadium on Lady Lane with banners and signs.
The stadium, which is due to close at the end of 2025, is one of only 17 dog tracks currently still open in England.
All 17 sites have seen protests this week as part of a collaboration between animal rights organisation Animal Aid and local activists.
