Driver crashing while avoiding cat sparks heated debate
A driver crashing into a parked car after swerving to avoid a cat sparked a lot of debate online.
The collision near Regent Circus led to hundreds of commenters arguing over whether the motorist did the right thing.
Here’s what you had to say on the matter.
Amy Louise said: “Naturally I will avoid any animal where possible, after all our roads are built on their land. That’s just me.”
Tom Hastings replied: “It's not cats’ land.”
Johnny Storms replied: “She said the land was theirs, it actually was before roads were built for cars and in fact the roads were for horses way before cars, maybe you want to learn history.”
Becky Vincent replied: “There were no human lives at risk, no injuries reported let alone deaths and the cat survived too.
“I'd rather damage a car than take a life that can't be brought back regardless of what creature possessed that life. No lives lost, only damage to a material possession that can be replaced.
“We can't carry money and expensive cars with us to the grave. “When you are actually behind the wheel and something jumps out, you have a split second to make a decision and sometimes all you see is a moving blur, what if that cat you thought you were going to hit turned out to be a small child? “You have to make a decision on how to react the moment it happens, not as easy as you'd think and you don't always have time to determine if it is an animal or a child before you react.”
