Demolition of burned farmhouse prompts debate among readers

The demolition of a historic farmhouse in Swindon, which was burnt down during a major fire near the A420, prompted a lot of discussion.

The building stood for 120 years, just off the A420 near Sainsbury’s and Gablecross Police Station, and was the subject of much debate among locals.

The fire that gutted the building broke out at around 4pm on June 20. and was so severe that the cause could not be determined.

With the building left unsafe and derelict, it has now been demolished, drawing a wave of reactions from the community.

While some residents mourned the loss, others said the building had become an "eyesore."

Dave Hoskins shared his personal connection to the site, commenting: "I fitted the Central Heating System in there about 50 years ago."

Meanwhile, Amelia Musty-Jackson reflected on happier times, saying: "So sad, I used to love........
