Criticism of PCC's call to make cannabis a Class A drug

Wiltshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner has supported calls to make cannabis a Class A drug – and many Adver readers are not happy about it.

Philip Wilkinson expressed his agreement with Dorset PCC David Sidwick’s recent comments about the extensive impact of cannabis on community safety in rural communities and its role in fuelling broader criminality.

He said that cannabis serves as a gateway drug and funding source for organised crime groups, and should therefore be recategorised to Class A.

This would align it with other illicit substances like heroin and crack cocaine.

Charlotte Heggie said: “I think alcohol is more harmful than stoners.”

Andy Boland said: “Gateway drug – to the fridge, maybe.”

Lucas Lucas said: “Make it more illegal for the government to grow and export it. Law of the land is not suppose to exclude a certain group of people.”
