Decision which will provide pay boost for some minimum wage workers to be agreed
A COUNCIL is set to agree a policy that will see staff working for its contractors get a pay boost if they are only earning the legal minimum.
Monmouthshire County Council has already been paying its staff the “Real Living Wage’ an unofficial hourly rate based on the cost of living, since April 2014.
The council’s Labour-led cabinet is due to agree at its Wednesday, September 17 meeting to go ahead with seeking accreditation from the Real Living Wage Foundation, which sets the rate.
To be an accredited employer it will have to require contractors supplying it........
