Research has revealed significant barriers to democratic participation in Wales.

The study, announced in April by Newport West MS Jayne Bryant, cabinet secretary for housing and local government, sought to understand better the obstacles to political engagement and to encourage more people to participate in the democratic process.

A diverse range of people from public and third-sector organisations, as well as elected representatives, were involved in the research.
