Almost one in five hospital beds in Wales are occupied by people in their last year of life.

The figure has prompted calls for urgent reform of end-of-life care from Marie Curie Cymru, which launched its manifesto ahead of the 2026 Senedd elections at an event in Cardiff Bay.
