Thinking we know more than we actually do can be dangerous

I assume I am not the only one who is not quite as smart as I might like to think I am.

Much harm can be done by lofty idea of our own intelligence. Thinking we know more than we actually do can lead us into some dangerous places. The scariest person in the world is the one who doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.

I remember after making comment in the stripping room of a farmer I was helping out after completing the work at my usual farm, the baler asked with a laugh, if I read that in The National Enquirer. That, of course, was meant, and taken, as an insult to my intelligence and I never forgot it.

I did not, nor do I, read The Enquirer but do not scorn those who do.

I do love to read People Magazine online. I read what the Kardashians wore, who is not wearing their wedding rings, who is being charged with some legal infraction or is pregnant, died, gave birth, cut or coloured their hair or........
