Just because they say it, doesn’t make it so
We all have our own varied and personal trust level.
I remember a very long time ago a friend was talking about a ship cruise which left from Maine in the middle of winter. I knew my friend wouldn’t lie so without thinking further, I backed her up. We felt pretty silly when we realized no cruise would be leaving from that area in the coldest season of the year. I think we both learned to be a bit more skeptical and not believe everything we hear. We also realized we might not have heard what we thought we heard so careful listening followed by some sort of rational thought is vital.
There seems to be unlimited capacity for what people will accept as reality and it often influences their actions. It is, to me, fascinating and confusing how we often are told things and eagerly believe it to be true without question. Just ‘cause they say it, doesn’t make it so.
