ROBINET: Frustration is in the air!
Such is the state of Canadian airlines that last week as I pointed the ol’ family roadster in the direction of Toronto to pick up No. 1 son from the airport that I actually took a “just in case” overnight bag with me.
His flight was scheduled to arrive at 7:30 p.m. from Winnipeg, so there wasn’t a huge timeframe for delays.
To that point, it had been a stellar week.
I had wrapped up my final work week before retirement on the Friday, and went straight to Amherstburg from work for the annual Canada Day reunion with my BFFs from Galt, and all was right with the world.
As always, our friends group picked up right where we left off, and if anybody is keeping track, I believe that was our 35th Canada Day get-together.
After returning home on the Monday, I shot off in all directions as one does, I guess, newly freed from the responsibilities of the day job, and as I write this, the house is in complete disarray with me having started probably two projects too many all at the same time.
But, I digress.
So, there I was on the Thursday, taking a leisurely drive to the big TO, with a stop-to-shop in London, before bracing myself for the craziness that is the 401 beyond that city.
Fortuitously, I had stopped in Cambridge for lunch when Number One texted to let me know his flight had been delayed for two hours.
Not surprising.
Not long afterwards he called to tell me that now his........
