ROBINET: Bit of a DCC ‘hubdate’
On a recent Sunday morning as I stared at my blank computer screen pondering what to write about, I decided to seek inspiration within the pages of the Chatham Daily News.
At a couple of recent get-togethers, the topic of the downtown mall project had come up, so I was heartened to see the headline “Stakeholder meeting held for proposed Chatham-Kent Community Hub.”
Hmm, possible column fodder, I thought.
As we all know by now, the municipality’s plan is to move the functions of the civic centre, museum and library into the former Sears building.
And, as you likely gleaned from the above headline, discussions are currently being held with those most intimately involved with those facilities: the library board, the accessibility advisory committee, municipal museums advisory committee and gallery advisory committee.
In the news release which was the catalyst for the story, C-K’s manager of infrastructure and engineering, Edward Soldo, reported that the meeting was, “an excellent first engagement exercise with our very knowledgeable stakeholders.”
I continued reading in hopes of finding confirmation of said statement from the stakeholders involved.
I did not.........
