ROBINET: All the feels at the Falls
To quickly recap for those who may have missed last week’s missive, yours truly and my sister Roseanne recently found ourselves in Niagara Falls with four family visitors from England.
As all overseas visitors must, they wanted to see the Falls, and I must say that even though I’ve already been there probably half a dozen times in my life, this visit was the ultimate experience!
The first time we went was not long after we’d arrived in Canada, and like both of our childhood visits, it was a day trip during which we were bustled to the Falls and then marched down the tourist strip, such as it was back in the ‘60s/‘70s.
In discussing this budget-friendly trip with Roseanne afterwards, I mentioned that we were each allowed to buy one souvenir of our visit. While my black plastic binoculars have long since disappeared, Roseanne pulled out her little “made in Japan” ceramic plate emblazoned with a picture of said Falls!
But, I digress.
On this particular visit, thanks to Jayne, we had tickets for a whirlwind three-stop tour of the Falls that was supposed to begin at 9 a.m. with the pickup from our hotel scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
We were out front a few minutes early where we waited, and waited, and waited some more.
Eventually, 9 o’clock came and went and we were still waiting, so phone calls were made and we learned two things: our pickup time had changed and........
