ROBINET: A few little hub bits
Well boys and girls, I didn’t expect my next column about the proposed community hub to involve the integrity commissioner (IC), but here we are.
As I’m sure you’ve all heard by now, both Chatham-Kent councillors Allyson Storey and Rhonda Jubenville were recently held to task by a municipally appointed IC about complaints made about their behaviour regarding the aforementioned hub.
Both women have been critical of the hub, as have many in the community, and many concerns have been raised about the need, the timing and the financial viability of the project.
Storey had been singled out for what commissioner Suzanne Craig referred to as violating rules about how municipal staff should be treated.
And it’s right about now you could be forgiven for assuming that the complaints to the IC were made by municipal staff.
But, you’d be wrong.
As Craig told council during her virtual presentation at the Sept. 8 council meeting, this was not the case.
“To be clear,” she said, “neither of these complaints on the report before you was filed by a member of staff of the municipality.”
Which of course, begs the question of who exactly filed these complaints?
I’m sure we can all agree that........© Sarnia Observer
