Artificial Intelligence and the Shape of Reality

Perhaps it's time for my personal hallucination, or as some say, confabulation. My recent writing on LLMs and hyperdimensional structure has got me thinking about the "other" hyperdimensional reality in which we live—the one depicted in string theory. Let's take a deeper look.

What if the same high-dimensional structures that define the shape of our universe might also underpin how machines process language and generate thought-like output?

This isn’t metaphor. It’s mathematics, albeit rather dreamy mathematics.

String theory—the ambitious and still experimentally unverified attempt to unify the fundamental forces of nature—suggests that our universe operates in ten or eleven dimensions. Most of these dimensions are imperceptible, tightly curled into complex and conceptually beautiful geometric shapes known as Calabi–Yau manifolds. Though hidden, they are not trivial, as the geometry of these extra dimensions is believed to determine the fundamental properties (think electromagnetism and gravity) of particles and forces. In essence, geometry becomes destiny.
