ADHD, My Daughter, and Me

When my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago, it felt like a new chapter was unfolding. Her diagnosis gave us a clearer roadmap to her unique wiring and a way to navigate the world together. Watching her isn't just parenting. It’s a constant, vivid reminder of what it felt like to be her age. I see my own struggles replayed in real-time: the drifting attention, the hard starts, and the easy distractions. But this time, I can support her by getting out of her way so she can find her rhythm while I continue to evolve mine.

We often joke that we're like interconnected fire alarms. Psychologists call this "co-regulation," but for us, it’s visceral.
