The City of Charlottetown is spending over $2 million to fix up an old Irving gas station on Euston Street — and not a single person at City Hall will explain why. I know because I’ve asked. There’s no plan. No public rationale. Just another “trust us” moment cloaked in secrecy.
Instead of risking city taxpayers’ money, council should have insisted that the cleanup and development be done by the owners: The Irvings. They have pocketbooks to make it happen, and it’s their responsibility.
Apparently, the city just had to have this Euston Street property. Maybe they think it’ll be the next Boulder Park — you remember that one, right? The park the city bought........
