But even in this environment, one part of our economy continues to expand: care.
This reality represents both a challenge, and an opportunity.
The challenge is presented within the latest update from Atlantic Economic Council’s Future of Healthcare series, outlining a direct link between health outcomes and economic performance. Poor health reduces labour force participation, limits productivity, and places increasing pressure on already strained systems.
The opportunity, on the other hand, is highlighted in a recent article in The Globe and Mail, where it was reported that health care and social assistance have added approximately 150,000 jobs since the end of 2023, which is nearly double the growth of all other industries combined.........
