Enough is enough - we need Debenhams sorting out and soon
Nottingham has had a rough few years. The city centre has seen better days and we know times are tough for a lot of businesses, many of whom are just clinging on now.
Old Market Square is scruffy with the Council House certainly having seen cleaner days. But the cherry on the not-so-tasty cake is the once architecturally-glorious Debenhams department store.
It used to be somewhere you could proudly look upon as a prominent landmark in the centre of our city. Now it’s nothing but a huge embarrassment and - to be frank - a dangerous one at that.
Today we are calling on someone - anyone - to step up and secure this building for the safety of everyone. We accept the long-promised redevelopment is way off, but whether it’s the owners, site managers or the City Council, someone needs........
