Sam Burgess, 32, was among protesters staging a demonstration outside the Brook Hotel in Barnard Road in Bowthorpe on 9 July.

He appeared before Norwich Magistrates' Court today where he pleaded not guilty to burglary and trespass after he allegedly entered the hotel and stole a bottle of vodka.

The self-employed roofer, who spoke only to confirm his details and enter his pleas, also denied using threatening, abusive, insulting words and behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence against four men.
