Drivers misusing disabled blue badges fined £38,000
Norfolk County Council (NCC) secured 64 convictions in 2024 against people who abused the permits.
People risk fines of up to nearly £2,000 for breaking the rules, while those parking in disabled bays without being allowed to do so could be charged a fixed penalty notice of up to £100.
A spokesman for NCC warns that displaying the permits unlawfully "has real consequences" and risks people with disabilities being unable to park safely.

BADGE ABUSE
County Hall issues around 15,000 blue badges - a scheme that ensures people who need disabled parking spaces are able to use them.
It employs dedicated blue badge investigators to pursue those who abuse the system.
A spokesman said: "Like all legal matters, ensuring offences can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt is time-consuming.
"However, to date, we've secured 64 convictions, with over £38,000 in fines issued in 2024 alone.
