City centre Georgian townhouse that once dodged demolition to be turned into flats
A bid to transform Gladstone House in St Giles Street, opposite the multi-storey car park, into six flats has been given the green light by Norwich City Council.
Most recently the grade-II listed building was home to tech company Pellcomp Software from 2014 to autumn 2023.
However, when Pellcomp left estate agents could not find another tenant despite the property being on the market for more than a year.

That's Property Ltd has proposed transforming the empty space into "high-quality residential accommodation".
The premises, built between 1785 and 1790, was once part of a group of large townhouses along the side of St Giles. While it survived, its neighbours were demolished in the 1930s to make way for the building of City Hall.

In 2014, the National Centre for Writing, one of Norwich's biggest cultural institutions had been granted permission to take over the building and put a venue in its garden.
However, the plans were never actioned.
