New hope for the storied Norfolk street that keeps falling down
Norwich City Council's new Green-run cabinet used its first meeting to approve a £980,000 contract for enabling works at Argyle Street, off Rouen Road, paving the way for 14 affordable homes on land that has stood vacant for years.
The £2.85 million scheme has been beset by difficulties, including the site's history of collapsing ground caused by historic chalk mines running beneath it.
The new contract covers ground remediation, stabilisation and piling, all of which must be completed before construction of the homes themselves can begin.
