Temporary traffic lights had been in place since June at the Amsterdam Way junction as part of a £1.9 million County Hall scheme to extend the "yellow pedalway" route.

A warning was even issued by Norwich Airport telling passengers to "ensure they allow sufficient time for journeys to and from the airport".
