Between December 1 and January 1, officers took part in a nationwide campaign to highlight the dangers of driving under the influence.

In that time they tested 400 motorists with breathalysers or drug wipes.

A total of 104 - or 26pc - tested positive for drink or drug driving.

Of these, 75 people were arrested after providing a positive breath test or refusing to provide a sample, while 29 people were arrested following a positive drug wipe.........
