City swans under threat from deadly virus

Bird flu – also known as avian influenza – has been detected in two swans living on the River Wensum near Prince of Wales Road.

The virus, which has killed hundreds of animals across the country, spreads rapidly and can be difficult to contain.

Some 20 birds are believed to have been killed by the infection in Wroxham during the last two weeks.

The deaths have got wildlife experts in the city worried about the effect it will have on Norwich’s........
