Plans for new Anglia Square box park approved

The food and retail centre, made out of refitted shipping containers, will be built under the Magdalen Street flyover after being granted planning permission at City Hall.

Known as St Saviour's Yard, the development will be built over the car park next to Anglia Square and is expected to include wine bars, office spaces and restaurants.

However, concerns were raised by some local people about the loss of parking spaces and the impact on nearby businesses.

Designs for the new box park (Image: Norwich City Council) Norwich City Council bought Anglia Square last year and was awarded a total of £34m by the government to cover the costs of its purchase and razing the site.

Traders have already been moved out ahead of works getting under way and have been given temporary homes while waiting for St Saviour's Yard to be built.
