NHS walk-in centre facing the axe AGAIN

The Norwich Walk-in Centre could be closed down as part of a swathe of cuts being considered by the region's cash-strapped Integrated Care Board (ICB).

The board has launched a consultation touting a host of possible changes to primary care as it looks to make financial savings, which it says would be re-invested in GP services.

As part of this process, the health centre in Rouen Road will see its opening hours slashed to mornings only or be shut down completely.

The move comes despite bosses being forced to u-turn on plans to close the centre in 2023 following a fierce public backlash.

At the time, the organisation's director of primary care, Sadie Parker, said the decision to keep the centre open had been made due to hearing how strongly the wider community felt about its service.
