Hundreds of parents face court prosecution over term-time holidays
New figures have shown Norfolk County Council is preparing to take 525 parents to court over unauthorised school absences.
It comes after it was revealed the council has made more than £600,000 in the past academic year from fixed penalty notices.
The charges, which were raised at the beginning of the 2024/25 school year, penalise parents for taking children out of school without formal permission. The majority of the time, parents do this in order to take advantage of off-peak holiday prices.
