Ambulance staff threaten to STRIKE over fears rota plan will split crewmates

The East of England Ambulance Service Trust is considering introducing a "team-based working" rota system.

This will see staff split up into individual teams with dedicated managers who will all work identical and fixed shifts.

But crew members working for the trust fear the plans could break-up longstanding working relationships and have threatened to take industrial action over them.

The threat has sparked fears over patient safety should the strikes go ahead - with paramedics vowing to only attend calls that "threaten life and limb".

Ashley Foster, regional organiser of the GMB union, said: "Our members are worried about the impact these changes could have on patient safety and their working relationships.

"We have explained our members' concerns to the trust, but can not force them to listen."
