'Conscientious' NHS nurse who struck patient and tried to hide it spared ban
Michael Abomeli was working on the Rollesby ward at Hellesdon Hospital - a psychiatric intensive care unit - when he struck a vulnerable patient in retaliation after being assaulted.
The following day, he recorded in the patient's clinical record that he had fallen and hit his head in an effort to cover his tracks.

The panel imposed a 12-month suspension on the mental health nurse - but stopped short of striking him off the nursing register due to "powerful mitigation".
The misconduct panel heard that the incidents happened in 2020, on June 28 and 29, respectively.
It heard that the patient, who was not identified, was known to assault staff but was also known to be able to isolate himself and de-escalate the situation.
On June 28, the patient lashed out at Mr Abomeli, striking him with a "clean hit, single, unexpected blow to the head".
