Rising costs put brakes on plans for 20mph speed limit on nearly 40 streets
Norfolk County Council has "paused" development of plans in the Mile Cross area, just months after consulting the public on the project - to the dismay of campaigners.
Council leaders, who will next month vote on a budget including £45.3m of cuts and savings and a 4.99pc council tax increase, said it was halting work because of rising costs.
Officials hope to secure more money from the government to do the work in the future, but the local councillors fears Mile Cross will be "let down".
