Norfolk councillors clash over potential council tax rise for next year

The Tory-run council needs to make £42m of further cuts and savings next year, and is currently basing its modelling for that on a 3pc increase in its share of council tax, including a 1pc adult social care precept.

But leaders say that the Labour government's assumption is that councils will increase council tax by 5pc - the maximum amount allowable without triggering a public referendum.
