Fire chief wants law change as rise in battery farm bids heaps pressure on service
Chief fire officer Ceri Sumner told councillors it was becoming "resource-intensive" for staff to have to monitor all new planning applications in case any of them are for a battery farms - because the service is not automatically informed about schemes.

She is lobbying for fire services to be made statutory consultees in such cases, so there is a legal obligation for them to be contacted and asked for views on battery developments.
Norfolk has recently seen a number of applications for battery farms, amid proposals for solar and wind farms.
