Fear that more Norfolk care homes will close sparks call for transparency

Care homes run by Norse Care - Springdale in Brundall and Burman House in Terrington St John - have already closed their doors.

And the company confirmed this week another in Watton - Linden Court - is due to shut within months, with the company saying the buildings are no longer suitable to provide quality care.

Alternative accommodation has had to be found for dozens of vulnerable people.

Critics are worried other care homes could follow suit, with the county council's contract with Norse Care to provide care for more than 800 people due to expire in 2026.

What is Norse Care?

Norse Care is part of the Norse Group, set up by the council as an arms-length company, which means it is run as a business with its own board.

That board includes two non-executive directors appointed by Norfolk County Council - its chairman Andy Wood and county councillor Greg Peck.

But opposition councillors at Conservative-run County Hall have been critical of the oversight which the council has over the company - and how much........
