Passengers had been advised to contact their airline before travelling to the airport.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large emergency service presence at the airport, including ambulances and fire crews.

A spokesman for Norwich Airport said: “We can confirm we are dealing with an incident involving a light aircraft which took place at 08.30 this morning."

He added that the runway was closed.
