Does Zohran Mamdani's victory in New York City's Democratic mayoral primary offer a blueprint for Democrats nationwide?

Short answer: Yes.

The only question is, will Democrats understand what that blueprint is? I am not so sure.

Last Tuesday, State Representative Zohran Mamdani shocked the political world by beating disgraced former New York governor Andrew Cuomo to become the presumptive Democratic nominee for mayor of the largest city in the United States. An immigrant, Muslim, and self-described democratic socialist, Mamdani ran on a platform that promised to make bus fares free, freeze rent for rent-stabilized apartments, and create city-run grocery stores to help cut down on price gouging and food deserts. He has also been outspoken against Israel's ongoing bombing campaign in Gaza, which took center stage in media coverage of the primary.

Zohran Mamdani's campaign used fresh, fast-paced social media videos and interviews with non-traditional media to meet voters where they are. Its platform is one that progressives have encouraged Democratic Party leadership to adopt, so far without........
