New Delhi: Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah finally broke his silence on India’s Test captaincy and revealed the reason behind turning down the offer. Bumrah, who was the first choice of the Indian selection committee as per multiple reports, denied the offer paving way for the young Shubman Gill who was chosen as the skipper after Rohit Sharma retired from red-ball cricket, followed by Virat Kohli.

Bumrah, who was the vice-captain of the Test team and led the side in three Tests (one in England and two in Australia) in Rohit’s absence, should have been the successor but the back injury that he suffered in the Sydney Test in Australia changed everything.
